Certifications

Laure Bourdon has completed several training courses in her career.

Here are the details of her master's degree and her certification as a holistic nurse and nurse coach consultant.

Laure Bourdon has been a nurse since 2002 (graduated in France) and obtained a master's degree in nursing (2017) with thesis at the Université de Moncton in New Brunswick (Canada), where she now teaches. Her thesis was a quantitative, quasi-experimental, pre-post comparative study of a lifestyle improvement program for young people. Laure therefore has the skills to conduct research and base her practice on the latest evidence. Since 2009, her specialty has been community health, i.e. disease prevention, health promotion and the understanding of health issues through the prism of health determinants, and thus the systemic analysis of situations.

Laure obtained her Holistic Nurse and Nurse Coach Consultant Certificate in May 2024 through the Canadian Institute of Integrative Nurses Education & Development (CIINDE). This certificate is :

  • recognized by the Caring Jean Watson Scientific Institute.

  • recognized by the Canadian Holistic Nurses Association,

  • accredited by the Canadian Nurses Association (135 H)

  • accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Corporation (135 H).

The care steps of the Holistic Nurse and Nurse Coach Consultant follow the nursing approach and are detailed as follows.

  1. Needs assessment: will take place during the first individual consultation, using the adjusted IHWA (integrative health and wellness assessment) form, and will ask the person about their view of their state of health in several areas (social, mental, spiritual, emotional, physical, environmental). For the group, a discussion with the person in charge will take place, and several health areas will also be addressed

  2. Needs analysis: will be carried out in collaboration with the client, through a process of questioning and reformulation, to identify together the needs the client wishes to work on.

  3. Preparing the intervention: Laure will do some research to find a number of tools that could help the client move forward, or to find the latest scientific articles related to the health theme being addressed.

  4. The nursing intervention: At the start of the private consultation, an anchoring exercise will be set up to really get into the session. We'll then discuss the pre-established goals and assess whether they've been achieved, whether they need to be adjusted, or whether new goals need to be added. We'll celebrate successes together! Then we'll explore the prepared exercises. Consultants can choose to do the exercises or not. For groups, an interactive and stimulating workshop will be conducted. Relevant figures will be presented, and then Laure will put the group into action to live an experience that will contribute to a better grasp of the problem or resolution of the health theme. A variety of technologies can be used, depending on the situation.

  5. Evaluation of the intervention: Following the exercises during the private consultations, the holistic nurse-coach will ask the person how he or she feels, and if this is not appropriate, another exercise will be proposed. Also, at the end of the session, the nurse will ask the person if there is anything that could have been improved. For groups, an evaluation form will be distributed.

Depending on your needs, Laure may offer complementary integrative care modalities (CIM). These may include mindfulness meditation, visualization, conscious breathing and women's empowerment, for example.
